Fifth American edition, but first thus. Sabin's first issue, with Uppingham Tune on page 27. These scarce early singing books are usually found worn and incomplete, and this is no exception. No copies of any early American edition of Tans'ur have appeared at auction since 2002. Evans 11489; Sabin 94335. Provenance: Benjamin Roper, 1771 inscriptions (apparently served in the Revolution); Joshua Houghton, 1775 and 1777 inscriptions, both of Lancaster, MA.
